BYU Store Pulls Hallmark Cards Celebrating Same-Sex Marriage

MORMONLAND—With love in their hearts, the staff at the bookstore at Brigham Young University reacted quickly yesterday when it was discovered that whoever from Hallmark had stocked their section of the greeting card aisle had somehow included cards celebrating same-sex marriage. According to Fox News, however, staff was unaware the cards were there until "photos surfaced online," at which point they sprang into action and removed the offensive material post haste. But it's unclear how many people may have gotten a gander at the messages of love and support that BYU believes, with love in its collective heart, actually celebrate the eternal damnation of one's soul. According to BYU spokesperson Carri Jenkins, the entire episode was all a mistake; the vendor had no idea the school would not want them a thousand miles from the store, much less in the store. As Fox News noted in its coverage of this incident, "Acting on same-sex attraction with any form of physical affection is a violation of the school's honor code." Apparently protective of everyone's honor, it is presumably anathema for the store to permit others to celebrate such a union.   But at least they're in good company. Brotherly love group American Family Association boycotted Hallmark back in 2008 for the same reason.
