Garden Day Planned For May 3 at Shannon Collins Memorial Garden

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.—LELO representatives are seeking volunteers to meet this weekend to prepare strawberry pallets to be sold at the upcoming Strawberry Festival in June. The next volunteer day is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at the Walnut Avenue Women’s Center, 303 Walnut Ave., Santa Cruz, CA. Volunteers are asked to bring or drop off strawberry seedlings, succulents, bags of potting soil, watering cans and small handheld gardening tools. The strawberry pallets will be prepared to sell at the Strawberry Festival at the Women’s Center on June 7. Volunteers are also needed to work the booth at the festival. Proceeds from pallets sold will be used to raise funds for the garden. The Shannon’s Garden booth will be open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 7. The garden was created last year by LELO officials in remembrance of Shannon Collins. Collins, who co-owned the adult boutique Camouflage in Santa Cruz with her husband Ken Vinson, was murdered in May 2013. “She was one of the first retailers to carry LELO products,” explained Patty Callahan, communications and marketing manager. “She loved the products, and we loved her. We knew we had to do something to honor her memory.” Anyone interested in volunteering at the Shannon Collins Memorial Garden can RSVP via Facebook using the following link: Facebook.com/events/767516139945902. Charitable donations are greatly needed and gratefully appreciated, and will be put directly toward supporting the Shannon Collins Memorial Garden at the Walnut Avenue Women's Center. You may donate online by visiting wawc.org, or by mailing a check to Walnut Avenue Women’s Center, 303 Walnut Ave Santa Cruz, CA 95060.
