'Daily Dot' Talks Porn Piracy With Siri

CHATSWORTH, Calif.—Internet news site The Daily Dot published an extensive profile Wednesday of 2013 AVN Best New Starlet nominee Siri. While the article recounts Siri's entrance into the industry and the many ways she connects with her fans through social media, it zeroes in particularly on the backlash she received from some during a recent Reddit AMA session over the position she espoused against porn piracy. Among the harsh reponses from Reddit users to Siri's anti-piracy statement, the Dot relayed, were: "If porn were impossible to pirate, 99% of the people who know you in this thread would have no idea who you were," and, "You would be making no money without the fame that tube sites have brought to you." The story also consulted director Lee Roy Myers on the matter, who backed Siri up, saying, "Piracy is burning down the porn industry as is." Myers expressed hope, however, that through alternative business models like that of his WoodRocket.com, "a new type of porn industry can rise from the ashes." Siri's Reddit session also got a mention, incidentally, by The Atlantic, and her writing for Quora.com earned her the honor of being named one of that site's Top Writers of 2013.
