Nudists 'Celebrate' 1st Anniversary of Anti-Nudity Ordinance

SAN FRANCISCO—Those who'll be in or near the "city by the Bay" on Saturday, February 1, might want to consider joining in the Body Freedom Parade and Nudity Ban Protest that'll be taking place at noon in Jane Warner Plaza at the corner of Market and Castro Streets, and convenient to the Castro Street MUNI Metro Station. The protest is being organized by nudity/body freedom activist Gypsy Taub, who recently married fellow activist Jaymz Smith in a nude ceremony in front of City Hall in San Francisco. The protest has its genesis in the anti-nudity ordinance pushed through the City Board of Supervisors by Supervisor Scott Weiner, who represents the gay-friendly Castro District, because several Castro residents allegedly claimed to have been scandalized for months by "men who take their clothes off and hang out every day of the week, and that has caused a lot of anger and frustration in the neighborhood." However, the ban has been met with continuing protests since it was proposed, and even more after its adoption on February 1, 2013. In case of rain, the protest will be held at the Center for Sex and Culture at 1349 Mission Street—but hey, if it's sunny, why not take advantage of the spring-like temperatures and join in the fun? (If you don't want to take your clothes off, that's cool too.) More information is available at Gypsy's website, MyNakedTruth.tv.
