Woodhull Sexual Summit Expands Annual Event

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Organizers of the Woodhull Sexual Summit, presented by the Woodhull Sexual Freedom Alliance, are a bit surprised themselves at how quickly the event has grown. “It started as a one-day event four years ago,” explained Tess Danesi, co-chair of the Woodhull Sexual Freedom Summit. “Last year we were two days, and this year we are four days. It’s amazing how much it has taken off.” The Woodhull Sexual Summit is more political and activist based than some other conferences, Danesi noted, but it does aim to cover major topics affecting all people. The event promises insightful discussions about politics and sex by day and celebrations of sexual freedom and its heroes by night. “There is so much packed into these four days this year,” Danesi said. “It really was a question of, we have all this stuff, where do we put it all?” Among the highlights of this year is Let’s Talk About Sex, a day-long institute at Woodhull. Presented by Sister Song, a Women of Color Reproductive Justice Collective, Let’s Talk About Sex traditionally takes place every three to four years. Another daylong institute is the U.S. Human Rights Network presentation on How To Move The immovable Middle. “I’m really excited about that one,” Danesi said. The Woodhull Sexual Freedom Summit take place Sept. 19022 at the Sheraton Silver Spring Hotel in Washington, D.C. Early-bird registration for the event is available now through July 9 for $175, and regular admission from July 10 to Sept. 9 is $195. After Sept. 10 and until the start of the event registration is $225. Seniors and students receive a $75 discount. For more information, visit SexualFreedomSummit.org.
