Showtime's 'Sex Pets' Was Never Lost ... But Now It's Found

CYBERSPACE—So there we were, noodling around cable company Showtime's website, when we came across an upcoming offering that looked strangely familiar. The movie was called Sex Pets, for which the site gives the following description: "David (Xander Corvus), a swinging bachelor who's tired of his old ways, can't believe his luck when Jen (Allie Haze) moves in next door. David's roommate Steve (Chad Alva) devises a scheme that is certain to bring them together in this erotic romp." "Hmmm," we thought. "Where have we seen that description—and that packaging—before?" Well, it could easily have been the 2012 AVN Awards nominations list, which nominated, for Best Packaging, an incredibly similar DVD box for New Sensations' blockbuster movie Lost and Found. Not only that, but the romance feature also snagged noms for Best Feature, Best Screenplay, Best Director-Feature, Best Boy/Girl Sex Scene, and tagged Chad Alva for Best Supporting Actor. AVN reviewer Iris Blocks gave Lost and Found four-and-a-half stars, deeming it "another excellent effort from the New Sensations team, directed by Eddie Powell" with "a plot that presses some emotional buttons" and "is further blessed with naturalistic, relaxed and even funny performances." The plot? Xander Corvus, who's tired of the "find 'em, fuck 'em and forget 'em" scene, finds his chance for romance in Allie Haze, his new neighbor, who, fortunately for him, has lost her dog, which Xander finds ... and then helps Allie look for, while the pet is actually being well taken care of by Xander's roommates, Kimberly Kane and Chad Alva. So for those who, for some reason, either can't buy/rent the original, or who have an aversion to on-screen explicitness, Showtime will be offering Sex Pets on its The Movie Channel Xtra channel beginning March 26 at 2:15 a.m. Eastern and Pacific—or they can watch it on Showtime On Demand until March 5. Either way, viewers can't miss with a couples-friendly "romantic, sensual and most of all believable" flick that garnered six AVN Award nominations!
