Sssh.com, Wasteland Donate to Red Cross to Aid Hurricane Sandy victims

BOSTON — Sssh.com, the erotica and sexuality website designed and maintained for women by women, continues their philanthropic program by donating a portion of proceeds to the Red Cross to help in disaster relief in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The American Red Cross exists to provide compassionate care to those in need. Their network of generous donors, volunteers and employees share a mission of preventing and relieving suffering, here at home and around the world. Angie Rowntree, the founder of Sssh.com, which is located in New England and experienced the storm first-hand, and who herself has lived through several natural disasters, discusses the donation. "We at Sssh.com as well as Wasteland have a long history of making charitable contributions to organizations that really make an impact on important issues, and the aftermath of hurricane Sandy really called out to us to send some funds down via the American Red Cross to help get the folks in New York, New Jersey and throughout the Northeast back on their feet. A lot of our performers and creative staff live in the worst affected areas and we hope that our contribution helps get things back to normal for them as well a little faster in the wake of this tragedy." Wasteland CEO Colin Rowntree added his wish that everyone in the industry give even a small donation to the American Red Cross "to show our industry's support and compassion." Sssh.com takes time and consideration that each organization is chosen based on a commitment to excellence, accomplishment of stated goals and ratio of funds distribution (direct application to the cause vs. administrative expense). The list of potential beneficiaries includes social, medical and environmental charities that get little attention and deserve so much more. Some are large associations known for touching lives in positive ways. Others are small but cutting-edge research foundations determined to cure debilitating diseases. Still others are cultural and community outreach programs devoted to enriching lives. For more information, go here and here.
