Wicked Announces New 'Countdown' Contest Prizes

LOS ANGELES—Wicked Pictures has announced the successful conclusion of the Beyond the Countdown sweepstakes. The writing competition gave imaginative fans the opportunity to pen a potential sequel to Countdown, director Brad Armstrong’s timely end-of-the-world blockbuster. Hundreds of submissions were created by Wicked enthusiasts who responded to the opportunity to have their ideas considered for production and meet the Countdown cast in person. Scheduled for release in the coming weeks, Armstrong's epic movie follows several diverse couples as they learn that a massive asteroid is on a collision course with Earth. While the Beyond the Countdown entries are still being vetted at press time, the care and attention lavished on many of the submissions has already inspired the company to award "runner-up" honors to five additional contestants. The lucky second-place and third-place finishers will receive both a Countdown DVD and a Brad Armstrong “Blockbuster Pack” containing award-winning hits, The Rocki Whore Picture Show: A Hardcore Parody, Speed, 2040, Fallen and Coming Home. The fourth-place and fifth-place finishers will receive DVD copies of Countdown and The Rocki Whore Picture Show: A Hardcore Parody. In addition to receiving the Countdown and Brad Armstrong "Blockbuster Pack" DVDs, the grand prize winner will also enjoy an afternoon at the world-famous Griffith Observatory with director Armstrong and Wicked Girl jessica drake. A meal at Wolfgang Puck’s Café at the End of the Universe will be followed by a live viewing of a real-life eclipse via the landmark observatory's formidable array of coelostat and solar telescopes. While Countdown is of course a work of fiction, even a casual perusal of today’s headlines will reveal that the concepts behind it are very real, as Time illustrated Thursday morning in a headline story examining what happened the last time an asteroid collided with the Earth.
