Larry Flynt Offers Anthony Weiner a Job

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.—Larry Flynt posted an open-letter on The Huffington Post today directed to just-resigned Congressman Anthony Weiner, offering him a job at Flynt Management Group, LLC. Though the sort of employment Flynt has in mind is not explored in the letter, the Hustler founder says that he thinks Weiner’s “attitude, combined with your service in the House of Representatives' Committee on Energy and Commerce, will make you a valuable asset to this corporation.” The letter mentions several times that the offer is being made in earnest, and backs up the claims substantially. “To show our sincerity, Flynt Management Group, LLC is willing to pay twenty percent more than your former Congressional salary, ensuring that your medical benefits would be equal to what you were previously receiving,” writes Flynt. “While you will have to relocate to our corporate offices in Beverly Hills, California, we would pay for all relocation costs.” Flynt also mentions the years of “serious political commentary” found in Hustler magazine and supported by his company, explaining, “Our key missions have consistently included the crucial fight of battling hypocrisy within the federal and state governments.” In conclusion, Flynt says that while the offer is serious and made “in large part due to your qualifications and clear passion for making a change,” he adds, “I feel that your unfortunate resignation is a prime example of unfounded political pressure and the hypocrisy that has invaded democracy in Washington D.C.” Unlike some of the offers made to mainstream celebs of one sort or another as their scandals reach critical mass, this one appears to have been made in earnest. Flynt was recently on the Rachel Maddow Show to discuss congressional hanky-panky.
