‘Get Out to Vote Tomorrow!’ Gay Porn Stars Urge in New Video

With the historic 2018 midterm elections less than 24 hours away, a group of gay porn performers has joined the chorus of celebrities urging Americans to get up of their couches and get to the polls to vote. While midterm elections traditionally have drawn low voter turnout, at least 31 million Americans have already filed their ballots through early voting and vote-by-mail procedures in numerous states. That’s 12 million more than cast early ballots in the 2014 midterm elections. Numerous celebrities from or affiliated with the LGBTQ community in America have already taken part in get-out-the-vote efforts, including the cast of Will & Grace, transgender actress Laverne Cox, and comedian Billy Eichner among others.  Now that list can also claim the participation of Austin Wolf (pictured above), Jason Vario, director Chi Ch LaRue and others. The video, viewable on the video service Vimeo at this link, was the idea of Bruce Beckham, star of such video titles as Say Uncle: Uncle Bruce Beckham Shows Matthew Bosch How to Flip Fuck, Barcelona Nights, and Beards: Bruce Beckham and Alex Mecum Get Buzzed and Fuck. Beckham explained that he hoped the star-packed voting video would encourage a younger audience—usually among the least likely to vote—to get to the polls on November 6. “I wanted to use our limited platform to encourage a younger liberal demographic to get out and vote,” Beckham told the site Gay Star News.  “Millennials are the least likely to vote, yet presumably the horniest and most likely to watch porn. I know it’s a stretch, but perhaps the encouragement of some adult performers can motivate them to vote and use their votes/voices to drown out some of the older, less progressive voices, as statistically, younger generations lean more progressive.” In the video, Beckham notes that in addition being midterm election day, November 6 is also his birthday. “I can’t think of anything more I’d want for my birthday than for you to get out and vote,” the gay porn star says in the video. “Exercise your vote, and help protect the rights of all Americans.” The Donald Trump administration has been particularly hostile to LGBTQ Americans, first removing all mention of LGBTQ rights and issues from the White House web site on the first day that he served in office last year, according to the Human Rights Campaign. In May of last year, Trump also signed a “religious liberty” executive order, which rolls back dozens of Obama-era regulations prohibiting discrimination against LGBTQ people, even permitting homeless shelters that receive federal funding to turn away LGBTQ youth, on the grounds that accepting them would violate the “religious freedom” of shelter operators.
