Reminder: 10 Days Left to Submit Pre-Noms for 2019 AVN Awards

CHATSWORTH, Calif.—The weekend is coming ... it’s the ideal time to catch up on those pre-nominations you’ve been meaning to submit for the 2019 AVN Awards. The doors will slam shut on the prenomination site at midnight on Sunday, Sept. 30, so if you haven’t registered, this is your 10-day warning. To pre-nom something in any category, adult industry professionals must request access to the restricted pre-nom website (powered by AdultCentro) here in order to submit their movies, products, outlets and other entities for awards consideration. Movies must have been released by September 30 to be eligible for AVN Awards consideration. Those who have registered in the past must re-register, and there will be no extension of the deadline. With support from presenting sponsor MyFreeCams, the 2019 AVN Awards Show is scheduled to take place Saturday, January 26 at The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, co-hosted by Romi Rain and Bailey Rayne. This year, a number of revisions have been made in the Video & Web category sector, most significantly in regard to those honoring foreign productions. In an effort to give better representation to foreign content, AVN has broken up its foreign sex scene category into to four distinct fields: Best Foreign-Shot All-Girl Sex Scene, Best Foreign-Shot Anal Sex Scene, Best Foreign-Shot Boy/Girl Sex Scene and Best Foreign-Shot Group Sex Scene. In addition, foreign productions will now be considered in any and all genre-specific categories where genre definition fits. Another slight refinement made in a different arena was to the category formerly dubbed Best Amateur/Pro-Am Movie; now re-named Best Pro-Am/Exhibitionist Movie, the change reflects the general shift for studio-distributed movies away from fare regarded as genuinely "amateur" in the traditional sense—real-life couples, students, etc. shooting their own porn in their own homes with non-professional equipment.   As established last year, content released exclusively on membership sites will be eligible for AVN Awards consideration in any applicable sex scene category, provided they meet the eligibility requirements (see further details below). Following is the fine print on eligibility for the 2019 AVN Awards: Eligibility Period To be considered in any of the video categories a title or scene must have been made available commercially during the eligibility period, which runs from October 1, 2017, to September 30, 2018. If a sex scene is released as both a standalone web scene and as part of a movie released via DVD or VOD, the scene will by default be considered part of the movie. For consideration in all other categories, a movie must be released in its entirety by September 30, 2018. Any scene considered for a 2019 AVN Award will be void from consideration in all future years if included as part of any movie released after September 30, 2018. DVD/VOD Eligibility To be considered for a nomination, movies released via DVD/VOD must either fit AVN’s traditional distribution requirements of being stocked with five wholesale distributors and/or 100 retail outlets (on DVD), or be made available for VOD download and/or streaming as follows: Must be available through a minimum of two (2) major for-pay VOD providers, defined as ones carrying movies from at least 100 active labels/studios. Must have clearly marked post dates within the eligibility period across all qualifying VOD platforms carrying it. Companies wishing to submit VOD-only titles for consideration must provide links showing that said titles meet the above requirements. Standalone Web Scene Eligibility To be considered for nomination in an applicable sex scene category, scenes must be released on a site that has members who are paying a monthly fee to access the site’s content. As with producers of content that is distributed on DVD and VOD, membership sites must also maintain 2257 records.
