Michael Cohen Book Dead: Planned To Reveal Stormy Daniels Details

NEW YORK CITY—In February, Donald Trump’s personal lawyer and “fixer” Michael Cohen, news reports revealed, was shopping a book proposal — a book in which he planned to reveal details of what he called the “unfortunate saga” involving a $130,000 hush money payoff to AVN Hall of Famer Stormy Daniels. But thanks presumably to Cohen’s sudden flood of legal problems that began with the April 9 raid on his business and residences by federal investigators in New York, Cohen’s book deal is now kaput, according to a report by the online magazine The Daily Beast. Of course, in February, Cohen was reported to be simply shopping the book idea, with the grandiose title, Trump Revolution: From The Tower to The White House, Understanding Donald J. Trump, But according to The Daily Beast, sometime in the interim he actually found a publisher for his promised magnum opus — only to lose the deal just as quickly. “According to two sources with knowledge of the agreement, Cohen reached a deal to publish the book with Center Street, the conservative imprint of Hachette Book Group,” the site reported. “But the same sources told The Daily Beast that in recent weeks, the book deal had been called off amid Cohen’s legal woes.” Those legal woes, of course, include Daniels' lawsuit against Cohen and Trump to terminate the deal she signed, agreeing to keep quiet about the sexual encounter she says she had with Trump in 2006. Daniels lawyer, Michael Avenatti, said that he was not surprised to hear that Cohen’s book deal is now off the table. “In my experience, it is never a good idea for a guy who is under criminal investigation to be writing a book about the very topics for which he’s being investigated,” Avenatti told The Daily Beast. “How stupid could you be?” The publication said that its reporters reached Cohen by phone to solicit a comment, but Cohen simply said, “Who is this?” then hung up after the reporter identified the publication. Whether the Hachette-owned publisher bailed out of the contract, or whether it was Cohen’s call remains unclear. A report by Fox Business News implied that Trump himself or his close associates may have been behind the cancellation. "It’s unclear whether the White House also warned Cohen against doing the book, though people with knowledge of the matter say administration officials weren't happy about the timing, given the growing controversy surrounding Stormy Daniels,” the network reported on its web site.
