Gazzman, Scarlett Revell Sign Directing Deal With Private

LOS ANGELES—Veteran porn directors Gazzman and Scarlett Revell told AVN their latest feature projects will now be released by the Barcelona-based heavyweight, Private. The pair revealed plans to pursue new opportunities beginning with a double bill of features for Private. "It was just the right time for a move," said the Scottish-born shot-caller, Gazzman, who has helmed more than 125 movies in his 15-year career behind the camera. "For some time we felt we needed a new direction and we both really knew we were well overdue for new and exciting challenges." Both had been directly most of the movies at Harmony for several years; recently, they received an aggressive offer from Private to each direct a new kind of broadcast quality feature. "So we saw an opportunity to push our boundaries both technically and creatively in a different direction and we took it!" he added.Xavi Rocka, production manager at Private, added, "We are thrilled to have Gazzman and Scarlett producing for us again. As one of the few remaining branded studios and channel operators it's key to our continued growth and success to have such talented, award-winning professionals on our roster." Revell, a native New Yorker, and Gazzman just returned from northern France, where they directed their first two features under the new agreement. "We have always worked so hard with our team to create quality films both in Europe and the US and we've become known for that quality but it's not at the expense of the sex," said Revell, who has directed 11 movies since debuting in 2012. "These new films are heavy on story and setup but not at the expense of quality sex action. "For the hard versions we're still 100% focused on the sex even if it's a feature set in amazing locations with beautiful actors and fantastic lingerie. Even if it has a story! That's what's at our core. But for the soft broadcast TV versions this time it's way more like a regular movie. I think it's important that we understand and deliver for the porn fans watching our films because we're fans, too." Gazzman, whose Private feature The Scottish Loveknot won Best Foreign Director and Best Foreign Feature at the 2004 AVN Awards, said he couldn't help but feel nostalgic as his career comes full circle. "You know I started at Private so I feel a strong sense of returning home with this latest move," he continued. "Over the years we have seen our films appear on a variety of well-known brands and TV channels such as Playboy, Dorcel, Penthouse, Adam & Eve and of course, Private. We feel at home when we have the backing of a studio committed to high production values and who trust their directors to deliver the very best content they can. It's also fantastic that they trust us to get on with what we're good at and that they support us to be creative. Not every studio appreciates how important that is to a director, especially in an industry where so often company owners don't value their directors."With projects already stretching through 2018, the directing duo have a full roster of films ahead of them as they begin their new journey with Private.
