Athens Will Be the Site of a New European Porn Film Festival

ATHENS, Greece—It's been quite a while since the last Hot D'Or Awards ceremony took place, which no doubt saddens those who remember the splashy European awards show. The last time Hot Video magazine put on its Hot D'Or Awards was in 2009—and that was the first show of its kind since 2001, when the Hot D'Ors moved to Paris from Mandalieu, a town just outside of Cannes, where/when it coincided with the mainstream Cannes Film Festival—and thereby drew considerable mainstream attention. Enter adult content producer Sirina TV and director Dimitris Sirinakis, who have boldly stated that they'll be picking up where Hot Video left off, and will be convening a European porn film festival—its official title is the "Sirina Festival"—at the Tae Kwon Do stadium in Paleo Faliro (pictured, near Athens) on May 2. "All the invitations have been sent out to the leading actresses, actors, directors, and producers in the industry," reported ThemaNews.com. "According to Espresso newspaper, among those who have been invited are 'hot' Tori Black, Alexis Texas and Amirah Adara, Rocco Siffredi—known as 'The Italian Stallion' in the industry—and Mario Salieri, one of the most successful producers and film directors in Italy. ... The goal of the organisers is to put on a night similar to those in Cannes and Las Vegas and for the event to become a permanent fixture calendar." Also on the invitation list will be several of the actors and actresses who have appeared in Sirina TV productions, but the award nominations will apparently not be limited just to those who have appeared in Sirina and Sirinakis content. (The ThemaNews article didn't say ... but it did include this interesting tidbit about the AVN Awards: "Even some more mainstream Hollywood stars, like Gerard Butler did not miss an event, appearing on the red carport [sic] next to sexy porn actresses." Actually, Butler has never attended the AVN Awards, much less appeared on the red carpet.) In any case, the Sirina Festival is still searching for a main host and/or hostess for the event, but even the Sirina blog gives no clue where to apply for the job.
