Cherie DeVille Starts at the Top With 1st AVN Award Win

LOS ANGELES—After six years as an active performer and 11 AVN Award nominations, Cherie DeVille won her first AVN Award as MILF Performer of the Year in 2018. AVN caught up with her via Skype in Montreal, where she was featuring by night and shooting scenes by day. "The MILF Performer of the Year win is, for me, the most that I could hope for in my career," DeVille said. "To get that recognition from AVN ... Winning makes me feel recognized and appreciated for all my hard work. It makes me absolutely joyous. I couldn't possibly be happier about it." DeVille raised her mainstream profile by announcing her candidacy for president in 2020, with rapper Coolio as her running mate. The announcement was promoted by online content site FuckingAwesome.com and featured graphics with the website name and the campaign slogan — "Make America Fucking Awesome Again!" — discreetly downplayed with a strategically placed asterisk. The announcement was covered by Huffington Post, Reason.com and DC news site The Hill—which took the announcement seriously enough to note that DeVille had not filed candidacy documents with the Federal Elections Commission—and Daily Beast featured an interview with DeVille conducted by retired performer Aurora Snow. In the interview, DeVille said, "It began when Trump was elected president. I always took it for granted that whether the Republicans or the Democrats won, someone reasonably appropriate was in office even if they weren’t my choice. Until this election cycle. I was incredibly disappointed in the political process … and that’s when I realized Trump basically won because he’s a celebrity. It made good television. If Americans are going to vote based on celebrity and scandal, well, I can give them that." Speaking from Montreal, DeVille credited her win at the AVN Awards to her wide range of performances over the last year, which included boy/girl, girl/girl, anal, d.p., interracial and bondage for video and online companies including Kink.com, Girlsway, Forbidden Fruits, Spizoo.com and ScrewBox. "I had a really good year last year. A couple of big showcases came out [Cherie from Elegant Angel and Cherie DeVille: No Limits from Zero Tolerance] and I've been doing more different types of work. I used to just do a lot of subbing for BDSM. I started doing a lot of Dom work, more anal. ... I don't know the ins and outs of the voting process but I think my increased versatility and expanding my porn repertoire pushed me over the edge."
