Men’s Health Dubs Greg Lansky the 'Butt King of Instagram'

CYBERSPACE—Dipping into that sweet porn clickbait, mainstream mag Men’s Health posted a story this week on its website about AVN’s reigning Director of the Year, calling Greg Lansky the “Butt King of Instagram.” Catchy, and it certainly can’t hurt the director’s brand. (His various imprints—Blacked, Tushy, Vixen and Blacked Raw—are distributed by Jules Jordan Video.) What’s even better for the French porn auteur is the spin that writer Jenni Miller puts on the piece. Starting with the subhead—“What it's like to be an Instagram-famous porn director with hundreds of thousands of followers”—Miller writes about Lansky’s agile use of social media and love of high-end photography. Miller notes, “The director’s Instagram feed, which has more than 180,000 followers, is full of perfectly posed stars lounging on boats, beside gorgeous swimming pools, on the gold couch in his offices, or behind the scenes on shoots. (Oh, and did we mention there are butts? Lots and lots of butts.)” The author also comments on the tone of his posts, writing, “Sometimes, he sounds an awful lot like a motivational speaker, not a porn director.” In question-and-answer format, she explores Lansky’s aesthetic (“imagery that is respectful and empowering of women in our movies”), focus on empowerment (“When you work in the adult industry … you are completely segregated and discriminated against”) and why he focuses so much on women’s bodies (“I couldn't do my art without the fantastic women I work with”).
