Royal Raunch: PornHub ‘Meghan Markle’ Searches Skyrocket

Fans of the British Royal Family were thrilled Monday by the family’s announcement that Prince Harry was engaged to marry 36-year-old American actress Meghan Markle. The engagement was historic for several reasons other than the usual for an impending royal wedding. For example, Markle will become both the first American to marry into the British Royal Family, and the first person of color as well. Markle’s mother is African-American. But to thousands, perhaps millions of people worldwide, none of that mattered. What they really wanted to know was, has Meghan Markle ever done porn? According to statistics released this week by the giant free-porn platform PornHub, porn searches for “Meghan Markle” on the site shot up by a staggering 2,208 percent on the day of the royal engagement announcement.  The drastic spike vastly outdid the also-impressive 1,430 percent increase in “Meghan Markle” porn searches that resulted when news first broke that the Suits star and the 33-year-old prince, who is fifth in line for the British throne, were officially dating. The United Kingdom, for obvious reasons, and its cousin the United States traditionally exhibit high levels of interest in British royal news and gossip, and the lust to view Markle in explicit sex scenes did not break that tradition. According to the PornHub stats, the U.S. is hornier for Markle than any other country, with a 2,273 percent spike in Markle porn searches here. The American increase slightly outpaced the United Kingdom’s hunt for Markle porn, with a 2,242 percent jump in the kingdom. But Britain’s European neighbors Spain, Germany and Belgium weren’t far behind in their lust to get a peek at Markle engaged in sexual activity of some kind. All three countries recorded spikes over 2,000 percent, according to PornHub numbers. But searches also came in from such far-flung locales as Argentina (a 1,841 percent hike), Israel (1,342 percent) and India (1,108 percent), which all made it into the top 25 Markle-curious countries, according to the porn mega-site’s statistics. While men were, perhaps unsurprisingly, more likely than women to surf PornHub for Meghan Markle videos, the difference was perhaps not as great as might be predicted. Only about 1.5 men searched for Markle porn for every woman who searched, the site reported. So, has Meghan Markle ever actually done porn? Or even been featured in a celebrity sex tape? Not surprisingly, no. Presumably, the Royal Family’s security team would have run a thorough background check to rule out any such surprises in Markle’s history.  The steamiest scene Markle has ever shot is likely this one, from the long-running USA Network drama Suits. One odd fact revealed by the Pornhub stats: older porn hunters were much more likely to search for Meghan Markle porn on PornHub than younger viewers, with the age 65-and-over group showing the largest increase in searches, compared to 18- to 24-year-olds who were the least frequent searchers for Markle porn clips.
