Cam Girls Get the 'Saturday Night Live' Treatment

TVLAND—Live cam site Chaturbate.com is kvelling about the October 7 episode of Saturday Night Live, which featured a skit about a law enforcement team trying to negotiate a data exchange with a sexy Euro spy. Due to some crossed video streams, however, the super-secret negotiations are interrupted by what the company describes as “a live feed of two blowsy, BBW fetish divas performing crazy acts to promote tips from their online fans through a Chaturbate-esque website.” Indeed, the two women—played SNL regulars Aidy Bryant and Cecily Strong—are seen on a screen with type reading “Sexy Chat Now” that clearly bears a resemblance to Chaturbate's logo in both color scene and design. “You know you've hit mainstream consciousness when Saturday Night Live parodies your company,” a company spokesperson said. Indeed, it’s an indication of how live cams in general have permeated the mainstream. Could these two become recurring characters on the show, as did the Swarovski Crystals girls? Back in 2013, Strong and fellow SNL cast member Vanessa Bayer played dimwitted porn stars hawking jewelry on TV. At the time, Vulture.com called them “the season's only real breakout new characters.
