Clackamas County Cop Fired Because Wife's A Cam Girl

CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore.—When it comes to Oregon, Portland may be fairly liberal, but much of the rest of the state isn't—including, apparently, Clackamas County, just southeast of the aforementioned liberal bastion. How do we know? Just ask Jeff Davis, 49, who was "medically laid off" by County Sheriff Craig Roberts earlier this year ... because his wife had her own business as a cam girl, and according to OregonLive.com, "Sheriff's Office policy prohibits off-duty employment that poses a threat to the agency's ethics and code of conduct, which includes behavior that 'provides entertainment or services of a sexual nature.'" Just one problem: The wife's cam business is completely legal, and Davis himself never participated in his wife's cam shows. That's borne out by the state investigators who began "monitoring" the wife's MyfreeCams site just one day after Davis was suspended, and according to Davis' attorney Dan Thenell, "They recorded hours and hours of her online activities as part of their investigation." In fact, according to Thenell, he's already reviewed much of the investigation conducted by the department, which included the several investigators having "spent hours watching [the] porn site, took hundreds of screen shots, interviewed about a dozen people and generated an estimated 1,100 pages of reports," and even after all that, Thenell is "unaware of any findings of wrongdoing or policy violations." By all reports, Davis was an excellent officer who had reached the rank of lieutenant, and was one of the department's narcotics officers. Until someone told Sheriff Roberts that Davis' wife had a cam business, he'd had no substantive complaints lodged against him. Sheriff Roberts has refused to comment on the situation or to release any records relating to Davis' firing, and his office even "declined to release basic employment information about Davis, including his salary and how much it paid him while he was on leave from work." The lesson to be learned from this, of course, is that one doesn't even need to work in the adult industry personally to contract the dread disease of Porn Cooties.
