I wanted to make money as quickly and easily as possible,” Alix Lovell said. “I was best friends with Hayden Winters—I knew her since high school—and I saw her go through it, make a good amount of money, build a name. That’s the only reason porn jumped into my head as an option. I did two scenes and I didn’t make that much money... but I really liked it.” Her first scene was a b/g with Danny Mountain. “It was amazing. Danny Mountain is awesome and amazing and he’s hot and he’s great and he’s a good performer. He did everything the right way, especially for a new girl. It was nerve-wracking—not the sex, I’m comfortable in my sexuality—but the acting was hard. I never acted before. I had to be the anxious innocent. I was, like, ‘Can we get to the sex?’ The producer liked me a lot and they still use me now and then.” After a setback (“I went back to my hometown because I thought that was the end of porn for me. I realized: ‘Screw this. I like it. I really, really want this. I like this. I enjoy it. It makes me happy.’ I found a way back to L.A.”) she went to the AVN Show and met Stoney Curtis, who shot her after they returned to L.A. She says her best work so far has been for Reality Kings. “My favorite scene was with Bruce Venture. It was just us, and I was on an ottoman and I hung my head back and he was over me, missionary style, going at my face as if it was my vagina. Looking back, I did not realize I could do that. I’m very proud of it.” Lovell says she’s in “for the long haul. My goal is to do it as long as I can, and then possibly have an agency. I’ve already found newbie girls and I’ve booked them before. I’m good at booking, I’m good at networking. I like to help newbie girls, I don’t like to see them getting conned.” The three birds tattooed on her foot represent “the anxiety I’ve struggled through for years and how I’ve overcome it.” Lovell says she plans to supplement the birds with a quote from Erin Hanson: “What if I fall? Oh but my darling, what if you fly?” “I’m not doing this for fame. The fame is the hard part for me. I struggle still, here and there. I still like to shoot only two or three days out of the week. I want to continue to enjoy it, and if I do get the opportunity to shoot five-plus days a week it’s going to make me not want to do it as much. I give a better performance and I really enjoy what I’m doing.
