Team Wicked Invites Industry, Media To Say NO To Prop 60 At AIDS Walk LA

LOS ANGELES—Wicked Girl and sex educator Jessica Drake is renewing her call to members of the media and adult industry to join her in raising funds for AIDS charities while voicing opposition to California’s controversial Proposition 60. To join Ms. Drake and Team Wicked at AIDS Walk Los Angeles on Sunday, October 23, Ms. Drake is inviting interested parties to email press@WickedPictures.com or sign up here. The fund-raising event will begin at 10 a.m. at Grand Park, 200 N. Grand Ave. Los Angeles 90012, in Downtown L.A. The acclaimed performer and sexual wellness advocate is appealing to industry members and all those willing to donate to a great cause and help support Team Wicked as it walks for AIDS funding and to voice opposition to Proposition 60. The proposed legislation is the controversial “Condoms in Pornographic Films Initiative” which will be on the November 8, 2016 ballot in California. If passed, it could have devastating ramifications by allowing any California resident to sue adult performers and producers, and potentially collect damages, if condoms are not visible in every frame of a scene. Current polling indicates support in favor of Prop 60 to be around 55 percent. The California Democratic, Republican and Libertarian parties agree that the proposed measure has the potential to create an avalanche of lawsuits that could cost the state millions, and have come out against the proposition. In a written statement, the Libertarian Party of California has expressed solidarity with the Adult Film Advocacy Committee and many civil-rights and public-health organizations, charging that “the measure is designed not to protect performers, but to enable a bonanza of lawsuits against the adult-film industry.” Members of the media may meet Jessica and Team Wicked members who will share their stories and discuss their passionate opposition to Proposition 60 by contacting Adella via email at press@WickedPictures.com to attend or schedule interviews. “We are receiving great industry support so we are making one final plea to everyone to donate and join Team Wicked in this great charitable cause and the grass-roots movement to stop Prop. 60,” Drake said. “It’s about helping all those who have been impacted by AIDS and all those at risk, and about supporting efforts to defeat Prop 60, a blatant power grab meant to cripple our industry and hurt those whose livelihoods depend upon it.  So, join us with our ‘No on Prop 60’ t-shirts, banners and signs and help support AIDS Walk L.A. and the effort to stop bad legislation." Team Wicked has raised nearly $70,000 over the last four years of the event to benefit AIDS charities, making it one of the top fundraising teams for AIDS Walk Los Angeles during that time. With the goal of raising $25,000 this year, Team Wicked so far has raised over $16,500, making it the seventh among all teams participating. Moreover, Drake herself has exceeded her personal goal as team leader and has raised more than $7,700. Those interested in donating may visit Team Wicked’s AIDS Walk L.A. web page here. In addition to Jessica Drake, Team Wicked includes Asa Akira, Katrina Jade, Vanessa Veracruz, Brandy Aniston, Ryan Driller, Brad Armstrong, Alexa Fawx, Venus Lux, Alison Rey and others, many of whom have already met or exceeded their fundraising goals.
