First Look at ’Not Traci Lords XXX '80s Superstars Reborn’ Now on YouTube

LOS ANGELES—Leave it to director Will Ryder to imagine today’s adult performers as the legends of porn’s Golden Era. “The legends are all here in living color,” Ryder said. “They're all here being portrayed by a sexy cast of young adult movie starlets who were not even born when the icons of the 1980s were turning the VHS into porn's golden era.” Traci Lords, Ginger Lynn, Amber Lynn, Christy Canyon, Bunny Bleu, Samantha Strong, Nina DePonca, Kristara Barrington, Nina Hartley, Mai Lin and John Holmes are once again making headlines, thanks to Not Traci Lords XXX: ’80s Superstars Reborn. The movie will release on VOD on Sept. 28 and DVD on Oct. 4. “Talk about a fantastic idea for a sex movie!” said veteran director Roy Karch, who serves as a historical consultant on the movie. “Will Ryder was around the scene in the early 1980s. Not many know that but I do.” “It's so cool being part of this project because I felt like we were stepping into history,” added Zoey Monroe, who portrays the very perky Bunny Bleu and captured the spirit of the one-time porn set fluffer-turned-actress. The advent of the VHS tape and the ability to shoot without film ushered in a new era of porn consumption allowing the viewer to watch adult movies in the privacy of their own home. “You have to understand that the 1970s had just ended and watching porn meant sitting in a huge nine hundred seat movie theater with a handful of other guys jerking off,” Ryder said.  “Or walking into a cum-stained peep show booth with a cupful of tokens in your left hand and a glory hole to your right. The VHS tape in the ’80s changed everything and these stars became very well-known as video stores popped up everywhere.” Not Traci Lords XXX: '80s Superstars Reborn is essentially a historical parody as the movie time-travels back to a day when porn was much more difficult to shoot and often times illegal to even sell. The production of adult movies was at times dangerous and filled with problems today's talent is not even aware of. In fact, some of the great directors of the 1980s are portrayed in the movie and played by the men of the business.   “I remember visiting my first porn set around 1984 and being in the same room as some of these living legends while they did dialogue and had sex right in front of me. Hell, they were superstars to me even before they became huge superstars,” Ryder reflects. “I’m telling you it was a very special era. It's where I first worked with Roy Karch and I still remember meeting Amber Lynn in 1984 and secretly following Ginger Lynn around a mall as she tried on shoes.  I was star-struck.” Not Traci Lords XXX: '80s Superstars Reborn stars Lucy Tyler, Carter Cruise, Zoey Monroe, Mia Austin, Angelina Chung, Cameron Dee, Courtney Shea, Angel Del Rey, Ashley Graham, Gaia, and Natasha Vega.  The men playing the '80s studs, directors and agents are Tyler Nixon, Richie Calhoun, Kurt Lockwood, Eric John, Anthony Rosano, Jay Smooth and Tom Byron as talent agent Jim South.  Misty Stone, Tom Byron and Ron Jeremy narrate the journey back to 1984.  “I had no idea what the porn business was like back in those days until I did this movie,” said Mia Austin, who plays Nina DePonca. “It was an amazing era.” “I think every young girl in this business should watch this movie,” Ryder added.
