Brazzers Forum Hack Exposes Close to 800K Accounts

LOS ANGELES—A data breach of the Brazzers forum has exposed close to 800,000 accounts, including some that never accessed the forum. Motherboard reported Monday that the dataset breach contains 928,072 entries total, but some are duplicates, bringing the real number to 790,724 unique email addresses. The breach included email addresses, usernames and passwords. “This matches an incident which occurred in 2012 with our ‘Brazzersforum,’ which was managed by a third party,” Brazzers public relations manager Matt Stevens told Motherboard in an email. “The incident occurred because of a vulnerability in the said third party software, the ‘vBulletin’ software, and not Brazzers itself.” The Brazzers forum is a separate site from the main website, but it’s likely many users have duplicated their usernames and passwords across both sites. The forum is a site where users can discuss and rate performers and scenes, as well as suggest scenes and stars for Brazzers. Motherboard said they were provided the breached dataset by Vigilante.pw, a breach monitoring site. Brazzzersforum.com is currently displaying an “under construction” page, and Stevens told Motherboard Brazzers is doing everything possible to fix the breach. “Brazzers takes the privacy and safety of its users very seriously,” he told the site. According to the Motherboard article, vulnerabilities in the vBulletin software have been tied to other breaches, including a recent one of the Grand Theft Auto fan site.
