Performers Guild Issues Statement on Prop 60

LOS ANGELES—The Adult Performers Actors Guild (APAG)—which is the chapter of the International Entertainment Adult Union (IEAU) representing adult performers—has issued a statement regarding its position on Proposition 60, the measure going before California voters this November that would mandate the use of condoms in adult productions statewide. APAG vice president Alana Evans sent the statement to AVN with the memorandum that it had been approved by majority vote amongst Guild members. She told AVN that 15 members had voted upon the statement, and clarified that the "No" votes mentioned in the statement represented a vote against supporting Prop 60. The APAG statement follows: Officers and Board Members of the Adult Performers Actors Guild, A.P.A.G., and local 424 Crew Union gathered yesterday to discuss and vote on the Guild’s stance on Proposition 60, the California Safer Sex in the Adult Film Industry Act. The Guild and Local 424 met with representatives from both sides of the initiative including Whitney Engeran and Adam Cohen from AIDS Healthcare Foundation, as well as Eric Paul Leue  and Siouxie Q from Free Speech Coalition, and President of APAC, Chanel Preston. Voting members of the Guild and local 424 were provided with numerous documents regarding Proposition 60 and were given an opportunity to discuss the measure with both agencies.
