Christy Mack Launches App Including Domestic Violence Emojis

LOS ANGELES—Adult performer Christy Mack has launched a new app, MackMoji, which not only features emojis and bitmojis of Christy and her favorite animals, but also includes emojis with a domestic violence theme. “Unlike other emoji apps, this one serves a purpose,” the app’s description reads. “The handful of domestic violence emojis are designed to bring attention to the domestic violence cause and victims across the word. It’s difficult for victims to come forward and take a stand. Christy is using her voice and strength to help victims from around the world.” Mack, who entered the adult industry in 2013 and was a 2014 AVN Best New Starlet nominee, made international headlines in August 2014 after she suffered severe injuries—some of which she still has not revered from—at the hand of her former boyfriend War Machine, aka Jonathan Koppenhaver. War Machine (he legally changed his name) was eventually arrested and charged with a number of felonies. He could face life in prison if convicted; the trial is scheduled to take place July 11. The MackMoji app, which was released June 23, features emojis of Mack, some of which have bruises and even a black eye. The app also features the Purple Pit Bull, which serves as a “bat signal” for those in need. A portion of the proceeds from every downloaded app—which is available for $1.99 from iTunes—will be donated to the Break the Silence Foundation, which is a confidential support service for survivors of domestic violence. The app will be updated often, with Mack designing many of the custom emojis herself. The app is not the first time Mack has developed a product to benefit domestic violence survivors. Earlier this year, Mack teamed up with Pornhub to create T-shirts with Mack’s and other porn stars’ likenesses that are sold through Pornhub’s site; all profits are being donated to a charity of Mack’s choosing.
