Taylor Lianne Chandler ‘Going For The Gold’ For Vivid Nommed For AVN Award

LOS ANGELES—Taylor Lianne Chandler, the intersex model and allege former lover of Olympic Gold medalist Michel Phelps, earned a nomination—along with Vivid Entertainment—for Best Marketing Campaign-Individual Project for the 2016 AVN Awards. Going for the Gold, a Vivid Entertainment movie release about the alleged relationship, was nominated for the prestigious award. Taking place at The Joint in Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Saturday, January 23, the AVN Awards celebrates the best of the best in the adult entertainment. “After the world found out about Michael Phelps and me, I was made to feel less than a woman,” said Taylor. “The world accused Michael of being gay, and being less than a man, for being with me; but Vivid and the director of Going for the Gold made being intersex sexy, desirable, and pleasurable.” Promotional work for the film included numerous interviews as well as the release of a tell-all book, The Making of Going for the Gold, by Riverdale Avenue Books. Taylor, who was born with both female and male parts, takes the reader through the experience of being thrust into the limelight, the decision-making process to make a porn video, and deciding to become a voice for those born with double genitalia. “I wanted to make this movie to celebrate this incredible time in my life, and also to open the conversation about people born with both male and female genitalia, so that there will be more education and understanding,” said Taylor of the book’s release. “’Intersex’ is an umbrella term which has replaced ‘hermaphrodite,’ which is now considered politically incorrect,” Taylor continued. “In my case, I was born with both a penis and a uterus. Even though my original birth certificate says that I was born male, I always felt I was female. “I am proud of all we achieved, and receiving this nomination on Transgender Remembrance Day is the icing on the cake. After hundreds of interviews in over 100 countries and 45 languages, no one can say they don’t know what an intersex person is anymore.” Follow Taylor Chandler on Twitter and on Facebook and at TaylorLianneChandler.com
