Two Nude Events Slated in Bay Area-UPDATED

UPDATE: District Judge Seeborg issued a TRO (temporary restraining order) to prevent SFPD from interfering with the "nude-in" and nude parade that will be held this Saturday, September 26, at 12 noon at Jane Warner Plaza. SAN FRANCISCO—Halloween is just around the corner, and Gypsy Taub's My Naked Truth group is ready for it. First off, body freedom lovers will hold a nude-in this Saturday, September 26, at noon at Jane Warner Plaza in San Francisco—but attendees might want to bring bail money with them. "We applied for a permit, but the SFPD did not issue a permit and keeps coming up with excuses and playing mind games, as usual," Taub said. "Our lawyer Gill Sperlein is working on getting a restraining order against the SFPD to stop them from interfering with us and is also working on filing a new lawsuit based on the SFPD continuously denying us permits in violation of the conditions of the nudity ban which is supposed to have exemptions for permitted events." Then, at 8 p.m. on October 17, there will be a nude Halloween party organized by Nomad, to take place at the Little Boxes Theater in the Dog Patch district of San Francisco. The party, dubbed "Night of the Naked," is non-sexual and clothes-free; in fact, nudity is mandatory, though body paint is acceptable, even encouraged. This is the very first party of this sort organized by Nomad, and there are a few rules to be aware of. For one thing, since Nomad wants the group to be "gender balanced," potential attendees must RSVP to get on The List. Also, there is an admission charge: $20 for early purchases; $30 after September 30. "'Night of the Naked' is our first Halloween party ever," Nomad wrote on the PhotoNaturals.com website. "We are in a big private studio/theater space and we will have performers, body-painters, music and a costume contest. Everyone in the space must be fully nude or in their costume. By 'costume,' we mean either body-paint, or some kind of micro-costume. Themes could be scary, sexy, nature themes, or anything else inventive. In order to maintain the nudity theme you cannot cover breasts, bums, genitals, except with body-paint. And just a reminder that this event is not sexual in nature and respectful behavior is expected from all. It will be a fun ghoulish evening!" "The event is open to everyone, but you must be approved of in advance and be on the door list," the post continues. "And because we want female participants to feel comfortable, we are going for gender balance. So guys, find a female 'buddy' to bring with you and apply to us with both names. If we already know you both from previous events, we can speed up getting you ticketed. Single women are welcome, of course, and this will balance out the few extra males that are inevitably there for one reason or other. To get on the list to attend this event, email Nomad at nomad@naked-club.org. If you are new and have not already done so, Nomad will require you to complete this application." Nomad is looking for performers and musicians—also all-nude, of course—to take part in the evening—and they'll even be paid "something." There'll also be a contest, with contestants drawn from nominees by party attendees, "so strut your stuff through the evening to make an impression. We recommend that you include some kind of short performance that enhances or helps express your costume. But it does not have to be a big deal. For example, if you are a naked zombie, you can just stagger back and forth a few times, grunting at everyone. Judges will be looking for originality and skill. A contestant whose costume hides too much of their body could be disqualified." There will be a "dressing room" area at the theater where people can change into (out of?) their costumes and stow their valuables, plus "there will be bodypaint available for you to use. And there will be a bodypaint artist available who may be able to enhance your costume or give you a quick color treatment." While attendees are not permitted to photograph or video-record the event, official photographers will be covering parts of the event, and participants will need to sign a release if they enter the area of the party where shooting is taking place. So if you're not ashamed of your body and are looking for some fun the evening of October 17, "Night of the Naked" is the place to be!
