Comedy Short ‘Laff K,’ Featuring Maryjean, Premiering June 6 In NYC

NEW YORK—Laff K, the black comedy short featuring adult performer Maryjean, will premiere at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at the Eat My Shorts NYC short film showcase. Hosted by Casting to the People, drinks and food will be available on the outside patio, while the screening will be held in the venue’s main loft. “I’m so excited to see the movie myself!” said Maryjean. “I was very lucky to have this chance to work with a group of talented, experienced actors, who showed me the ropes and made me so comfortable. I look forward to more acting roles; that’s my goal.” Laff K is a black comedy about struggling comedian Greg Norman (played by actor/comedian/writer Ohene Cornelius) and his encounters with fate, as he shoddily attempts to end his life. Maryjean plays the part of Lady, the girlfriend of an obnoxious audience member, who insults Ohene’s character during his stand-up set, during a “Comedy in the Bush” event at a comedy club. Ohene and Maryjean’s characters later cross paths again, to solidity the theme of the film—fate.  “I was thoroughly impressed with Maryjean’s performance,” says director Joseph Patrick Conroy,  “’Laff K’ features some extremely talented actors, and Maryjean held her own during her scenes with each of them. I’d love to work with her again, and I hope we can make that happen at some point soon.” Also appearing in Laff K is retired porn star-turned-standup comedian Alia Janine, whose routine makes a cameo in the end credits. The Eat My Shorts NYC short film showcase is held at 111 Bowery, New York, NY 10002. There is no cover charge to attend this event.
