Dame Products' Eva Vibe Exceeds Goal, Makes Indiegogo History

QUEENS, NY—Janet Lieberman and Alexandra Fine are making history with Eva, their new pleasure product for couples. In just a month, two women have surpassed their initial Indiegogo goal by more than a half-million dollars. Lieberman and Alexandra Fine report that their next-generation couple's vibrator has become the most highly funded adult product in the history of online crowdfunding, and the Eva campaign was named Indiegogo's top campaign run by an all-female team. It all began a year ago when, frustrated when in search of a sex toy tailored for both partners in a couple, the two 20-somethings set out to design a product that close the "pleasure gap" between male and female partners and bring something unique to the sex toy industry. The resulting device, named Eva, is engineered to be used by women during sex, providing an alternative to what the designers call "isolating and intrusive options." Eva’s unique design includes flexible wings — which keep the vibrator in place by tucking under a woman’s labia, providing sustained clitoral stimulation without obstructing penetrative sex. The small, rechargeable vibrator is made with medical grade silicone, and has multiple speeds to accommodate different intensity preferences. Lieberman, who is equipped with an engineering degree from MIT and a robust background in product design and development, is open about the fact that engineering Eva was not easy. "Designing Eva was a considerable challenge," Lieberman explained. "Though the device features a seemingly simple design, numerous 3-D printed prototypes and complicated formulas were used to make it the unobtrusive, minimalist product it is today." With its mechanical elegance and carefully curated materials, the creators note, Eva brings the physicality back to technology. Together with Fine, who has a master's in psychology from Columbia University and has spent years studying the psychology of sex, Lieberman formed a company, Dame Products. Together the two women have taken the once-taboo topic of sex toys and brought it to the forefront in both science and mainstream society. Dame Products, the NYC-based company behind the vibrator, was founded by Fine—a Columbia Master’s graduate in Clinical Psychology - and Lieberman – an MIT-educated mechanical engineer, to empower the experiences of womankind and facilitate their persistent pursuit of pleasure equality and heightened intimacy. The venture proves that engineering and sex aren’t mutually exclusive.   “Our goal is to create products that fit into your sex life, instead of the other way around,” said co-founder, Lieberman. “We believe that women deserve a quality product from a brand they can trust.” “We’re motivated by the notion that vibrators can be vehicles for empowerment and sexual wellness: 70 percent of women need clitoral stimulation in order to reach orgasm, and they just aren’t always getting it,” added Fine, chief executive officer of Dame Products. “We are trying to make the world a happier place one vagina at a time.” The first round of Eva vibrators are being delivered to backers of the Indiegogo.com campaign. Pre-orders of Eva for all others can be made at DameProducts.com. Eva will be available for widespread purchase by June on DameProducts.com for $105 plus shipping.
