'Cam Girlz' Documentary Is Now Available Online

NEW YORK—Cam girls are pioneering profound changes to the world’s oldest profession by using the safety and intimacy of internet chat rooms to develop their own unique sexual personas and performances that keep men returning to their screens and “tipping” generously. A cam girl is part entertainer, part therapist and part sex worker. These women approach their cam “jobs” with creativity and joy. And can make a lot of money doing it. Watch them perform. Listen to their stories. And be prepared to have your beliefs about sex work challenged.  Director Sean Dunne made his feature-film-directing debut with Oxyana, a portrait of a small coal-mining town caught in the grips of the Oxycontin epidemic. Oxyama premiered in 2013at the Tribeca Film Festival, where Dunne was awarded Best New Documentary Director and received a Special Jury Mention for Best Documentary.  For this film, Dunne and his team decided to forego the festival circuit and world-premiered Cam Girlz on January 22, during the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas. Hailed as a “master of fringe Americana” for his ability to realistically capture half-mythical corners of the country, Dunne’s approach to documentary is to give his subjects the ease and opportunity to find their own v!oice and his viewers the freedom to form their own conclusions. Providing a completely different subject and approach but with the same unflinching honesty, Dunne released a companion micro-feature yesterday for free on Vimeo titled Florida Man. Cam Girlz is available now for pre-order and on Vimeo On Demand, and is also available through the film's website.
