On the Set: New Sensations' 'I Love My Hot Wife'

LOS ANGELES—Earlier this summer, AVN got the opportunity to be on the set of two shoots directed by Jacky St. James for the new Tales From the Edge imprint from New Sensations. First up was a vignette movie about boss/employee sexcapades, which will street in October ... more about that on AVN.com next month.  The second shoot of the day was another vignette title, tentatively titled Hot Wife Stories. Each scene will be a riff on the “hotwife” phenomenon, which St. James explains is not the same as the cuckold niche: there is no degradation or coercion of husbands. It’s more akin to swinging, but the woman gets all the action while the man watches. Still in her civilian attire—a black tank top and shorts—performer Sovereign Syre talks about the upcoming shoot as she fills out her paperwork. Though she’s been in the adult business since 2011, she only recently started doing boy/girl scenes, having broken her boy/girl cherry recently with Dana Vespoli's Hollywood Babylon (Evil Angel). But that boy/girl debut was a long time coming. The project, which was released earlier in the year by Evil Angel, was complex and ambitious; Syre recalls thinking at one point, “Is the universe conspiring to make this movie fucking impossible?” Vespoli, who is also a friend, “wanted to give me everything I wanted,” Syre says. “That movie was me and Dana’s love letter to each other.”  Now, Syre is enthusiastic about working with men and she’s feeling confident about her career choices and her recent move to living in Los Angeles full time. Doing boy/girl scenes “has its challenges, but it’s been a fun evolution. It’s so very different than girls.” She mentions two of the most seasoned performers she’s worked with—Erik Everhard and Manuel Ferrara, each with more than a thousand movies under their belts—and marvels at their ability to “make you really believe in the intimacy. … You know every girl is walking away feeling the same thing: ‘This guy is really into me.’ How do you do that every time?” Today she gets to work with Richie Calhoun and Xander Corvus, two St. James regulars, and she’s quite looking forward to the experience. She knows both but has yet to do a sex scene with them. “Me and Richie are married,” she says, filling in the back story. “We come out to Xander … we’re talking him into it. In this fantasy, Richie will be telling Xander what to do.” She adds, “I’m really excited to be working with Jacky. I love her movies.” Within a couple of minutes, St. James has emerged from the bathroom, where she's been shooting a sex scene with Calhoun and A.J. Applegate for the office sex series. She settles down on the floor next to Syre as they plan an outfit for the performer from what she’s brought to the set. They’re both attracted to a number with a zipper down the front; Syre picks out the bra, panties and shoes that will complete the outfit. But St. James wants to have the whole ensemble modeled before giving her thumbs up. Before Corvus gets there, St. James has time to share more about the other vignettes. She emphasizes that each scene will explore “different stages of the hotwife experience.” One scene will feature a married couple, played by Otto Bauer and Romi Rain. Another will have Siri and her real-life husband, and the buxom performer will have sex with Erik Everhard. And another will feature a dominant James Deen directing the action between wife Ava Dalush and Logan Pierce. Alas, staying all day to enjoy the rest of the shoot is not in the cards. So it’s back to the office before getting the chance to see Syre in her finery. But it’s quite certain that she’ll sizzle as one of St. James’ hot wives.
