Op-Ed: BuzzFeed Shames Actor, Lies About 'Porn' Appearance

LOS ANGELES—Really, truly, BuzzFeed and their putz of a writer, Andrew Kaczynski, can go suck an egg, as can all the other media outlets who followed their lead and went with the click-bait headlines about the actor who appeared in a campaign ad for Pennsylvania Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tom Wolf, but who also appeared in a 2013 low budget horror film titled Breeding Farm, which Kaczynski terms "torture porn," with a decided emphasis on the "porn." This is the synopsis of the film that appears on movie database IMDB, which places it in the Horror genre, and not in Adult: "After a night of partying, four friends are kidnapped by a mysterious man," it reads. "The friends wake up in a basement, and realize they are part of something horrifying. A human breeding farm. They are to be milked, bred, and much, much worse." But just in case you were thinking that maybe Kaczynski and his editors didn't mean to label the film as actual porn, but only "torture porn," think again. In his opening sentence, Kaczynski states unequivocally, "Alan Benyak, an actor who stars in Pennsylvania Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tom Wolf’s ad 'Jeeps' also had a lead role as 'Mr. Cannibal' in a twisted porn film called Breeding Farm." Now, Benyak, who, according to CBS News, is also a former special assistant U.S. Attorney as well as an army lawyer who served in the Iraq War, Desert Shield and Desert Storm, is feeling the pressure, telling the local CBS affiliate yesterday, “I feel I’m being bandied about by the Republican Party, the National Republican Party, and certainly the Corbett people." "Corbett" is Pennsylvania Republican Governor Tom Corbett, whose campaign has been trailing in the polls and as a result, according to Benyak, is in "full-out desperation mode." Why BuzzFeed rode to Corbett's rescue is anyone's guess—by any liberal standards, the guy's a scumbag—but readers should henceforth be advised of BuzzFeed's dubious journalistic standards from here on out. They were so determined to get the lowdown on Benyak's loathsome "porn career" that when they realized that he is not listed on the IMDB cast list for the movie, according to Philly.com, they "apparently watched the movie and found him in the credits that roll at the end." Obviously, they knew he was in the film before they went to that trouble. In journalist parlance, it's called a hatchet job. In another statement to the Daily News, Benyak explained, "Unfortunately, I have become political fodder in a game of high-stakes politics due to a small role I played in a low-budget film as a favor to a friend struggling to fulfill his own dreams." In reaction, as could be expected, the Wolf campaign has pulled the spot. "We were unaware of Mr. Benyak's involvement in the film, and we are making changes to the ad now," said a campaign spokesperson yesterday. While the false porn shaming is beyond the pale, and will hopefully result in a backlash by citizens too smart to be fooled by such childish shenanigans, not everyone is falling for BuzzFeed's outrageous lies. Pittsburgh's City Paper ran with the longish but awesome headline, "Actor in Wolf commercial did horror flick; shit gets blown way out of proportion." No shit. More information about Breeding Farm, which is distributed by Troma Entertainment, is here.
