Dustin Olive Takes The Field for Alzheimer’s Research

SAN FERNANDO, Calif.—Adult distributor Honey’s Place will be cheering on its very own Dustin Olive on May 31, when he will lead the defensive team in the Alzheimer’s Association Blondes vs. Brunettes Women’s Flag football team. Money raised for this event will go toward education, care and support of those living with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. The campaign goal is to raise $35,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. Alzheimer's is the sixth leading cause of death in the Unied States, and more than 5 million Americans are living with the disease every day. It is the only cause of death among the top 10 in the U.S. without a way to prevent it, cure it or even slow its progression. By 2025, the number of people ages 65 and older with Alzheimer's disease is estimated to reach 7.1 million, a 40 percent increase from the 5 million age 65 and older currently affected. “My grandfather and mentor growing up suffered from this horrible disease. I watched him go from a brilliant man, with amazing charisma and intellect, to someone that could barely feed himself,” stated Honey’s Place Director of Operations Dustin Olive. “His deterioration was swift and sudden, only to end in his death two short years later. This pained me greatly knowing what he was to me, and so many others he touched in his life. “Win or lose,” Olive added, “my true goal is a world without Alzheimer’s. With this cause I get to combine the love I have for my grandfather and my love for the game of football.” For those who would like to cheer on Dustin and Team Blondes, the game kick-off is at 2 p.m. on May 31 at Fairfax High School in Hollywood. The ladies may be competing for the title, but in the end everyone works together to help the Alzheimer’s Association of Los Angeles to move closer in meeting its fundraising goals. All help is greatly appreciated. Honey’s Place will match 100 percent of the proceeds donated by their employees. Those interested in supporting Team Blondes may click here to make a donation.
