BOSTON—Sssh.com, the erotica and sexuality website designed and maintained for women by women, continues their philanthropic donation program and is pleased to announce that The Michael J. Fox Foundation was the organization chosen by the Sssh.com subscriber community for their monthly revenue donation for the month of May. The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease through an aggressively-funded research agenda, and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The team works tirelessly every day with one urgent goal in mind: Accelerating breakthroughs patients can feel in their everyday lives. It is accepted practice among private disease research funders that the most important decisions—how to allocate donor-raised dollars—are made by external scientific advisors and boards. The Michael J. Fox Foundation has bucked this model from Day 1 in favor of building an in-house team of formally-trained PhDs and business-trained project managers. Sssh.com takes the time to assure that each organization is chosen for donation based on a commitment to excellence, accomplishment of stated goals and ratio of funds distribution (direct application to the cause vs. administrative expense). The list of potential beneficiaries includes social, medical and environmental charities that get little attention and deserve so much more. Some are large associations known for touching lives in positive ways. Others are small but cutting-edge research foundations determined to cure debilitating diseases. Still others are cultural and community outreach programs devoted to enriching lives.
