Adam & Eve Asks 'Will Condoms In Adult Movies Be a Turn-Off?'

HILLSBOROUGH, NC —This month, Los Angeles County residents voted on Measure B, the condom-only mandate for the adult industry. In light of this, AdamEve.com, one of America’s most trusted sources for adult products, asked over 1,000 American adults if the use of condoms in adult movies would affect their viewing habits. Nearly 32 percent of the respondents said that condom use in an adult movie would be a turn-off, while 68 percent said it would not affect their viewing habits. Of the men polled, 36 percent said condoms would be a turn-off and 64 percent said it would not be. And for the women, 16 percent said condoms would be a turn-off and 84 percent said it would not be. Dr. Kat Van Kirk, Adam & Eve’s resident sexpert, finds these results interesting. "While the majority of adults say they support the use of condoms in their private lives, the idea of using them within the fantasy of erotica seems to be a negative," said Dr. Kat. "In the world of adult entertainment, where viewers want to see 'real' sex, perhaps the use of condoms makes it a little too real." The web-based survey, conducted by an independent third party survey company, of over 1,000 American adults age 18 and up, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.
