Standard Innovation Corporation Confirms Ongoing Patent Protection

OTTAWA, Canada—Standard Innovation Corporation, the manufacturers of the We-Vibe family of sexual wellness products, is reminding their partners and the industry at large that their legal action against LELO is ongoing. The LELO Tiani (and LELO's Mahana) is accused of infringing more than 60 claims of We-Vibe's U.S. Patent No. 7,931,605. Standard Innovation was prompted to issue this clarification in response to misleading information circulating concerning the status of actions it has taken to protect its valuable intellectual property rights, and in particular to protect their signature product, the We-Vibe (C-shaped, worn while making love, massager), which is patented. Contrary to any reports that are suggesting that the patent litigation has been concluded or has resolved, a trial, as part of the Investigation before the United States International Trade Commission (ITC), is imminent and the proceedings will be active until the ITC passes down a formal ruling. To date, actions for patent infringement have also been initiated in Canada and the U.S. District Court. The We-Vibe couples’ device entered the U.S. market in 2008 to rave reviews. It was the first device of its kind and remains the most popular rechargeable vibrator for couples in the world with more than 2 million satisfied customers.  Having built a reputation for manufacturing high-quality, innovative and patent-protected products, Standard Innovation reacted swiftly to protect their valuable intellectual property when LELO's Tiani product was unveiled in 2011. As a result, the LELO Tiani is currently the primary subject of an ongoing investigation for patent infringement initiated by the United States ITC. The matter will go to trial in August.  The U.S. ITC proceeding will be the first legal action to be resolved. An action for patent infringement has also been commenced and remains ongoing in Canada, as well as in the United States District Court against LELO and other parties. Standard Innovation will continue to pursue legal actions against those who Standard Innovation believes are infringing their valuable intellectual property, including patents on their distinguished products, and are attempting to bring imitation products to market.
