If It's Monday It's 'Daily Caller' Porn Day

CYBERSPACE—Just my luck to hear too late about the hack this morning of The Daily Caller by some fun-loving miscreants who thought it would be cool to add some porn to the usual agitprop. The desecration of Tucker Carlson's homage to lowbrow conservatism actually appears to have been undertaken against one of the site's ad servers and not the site itself, but the result was the same. According to a screen grab caught by Fishbowl DC, a semi-explicit banner ad took center stage on the top of the page. Sweet! Just to be clear, The Daily Caller is known to run porn stories on occasion, albeit with weird slants. There's one on the site as we speak, even after the encroaching ad was removed. It comes courtesy of a slideshow feature titled, "Politico or Porn Star," with a static graphic that shows former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton and his signature 'stache.   The slideshow, which ostensibly means to contrast porn stars and politicos, shows 10 males—Bolton, Herman Cain, Former Maine Gov. Angus King, Michael Steel, etc—all of whom have... moustaches. Not one image of a porn star accompanies the feature, so one is left to imagine the typical porn star moustache. You know, like the one worn by James Deen. Oh wait, he doesn't have one. What about Evan Stone... um, nope. Dale DeBone? Uh-uh. Manuel Ferrara? Uh... no. Anthony Rosano? No, no, no! Tommy Gunn? Bingo! Of course, it really doesn't matter that relatively young conservatives like Carlson prefer to live in a Mayberry world in which a moustache is eternally associated with porn, and in that sense we have a smidgen of sympathy for their ordeal today in being pulled into the 21st Century by a group of unruly hackers. The image on the banner looks to be of a guy eating out a girl, and I'll be damned if it doesn't look like the guy has a goatee. (A far more common facial fixture these days than the aforementioned moustache, it should be mentioned. Actually, Tommy Gunn has a goatee and not a moustache!) For Daily Caller fans—and we know there are many of you who work in porn—Google, which previously served up a malware warning to people trying to visit the site, now says the site is clean, at least in terms of identifiable viruses are concerned. The moustache slideshow is still on the site, though, so some caution is still warranted. Image: The offending banner ad, courtesy of a screen grab by Fishbowl DC.
