Girlfriends Films and Angela Sommers’ Donate $1000 to Doctors Without Borders

RESEDA, CA — Girlfriends Films and adult star Angela Sommers are supporting Doctors Without Borders with a $1000 donation. The medical relief organization is the July selection from Girlfriends Films’ charity program, as chosen by Sommers. Doctors Without Borders brings quality medical care to people in over 60 countries affected by crisis, regardless of race, religion or political affiliation. Girlfriends Films calls on its strong community of fans and followers to join Sommers in assisting Doctors Without Borders’ mission. Donations of all sizes may be made directly to Doctors Without Borders. “I choose to give my Girlfriends Films donation to Doctors Without Borders,” states Sommers. “I only wish I had the skills and knowledge of a doctor to be able to help people in need of health care. I can't stand how health care is a business — a large and profitable one. I don't think it should be treated that way at all!  I know doctors need to make a living and should be respected for the years of education they put in, but everyone deserves the right to be healthy and to be helped, no matter how much money they make.”  Sommers continues, “A doctor helping those in need for nothing in return, despite the risk to themselves, is probably one of the most beautiful and selfless things anyone can do. Everyone needs to help each other more in this world and stop being so selfish. People who donate to this organization help pay for doctors' travel expenses to third world countries to help people in need. With this donation, I am happy to join the others who help facilitate health care of the disadvantaged and needy.” New to the adult industry, Sommers’ first titles with Girlfriends Films recently released. Sommers may be seen performing in Women Seeking Women 84 and 85, Girls in White 2012 volumes 1 and 2 and Tammy Sands’ Glamour Solos, distributed by Girlfriends Films. Girlfriends Films has a long history of charitable contributions, having donated over $20,000 in 2011. Last year the company restructured its charity program from an annual end-of-year donation to an ongoing, monthly program. AVN Media founder Paul Fishbein kicked off the 2012 giving with a donation to Best Friend Animal Society, followed by Tanya Tate’s gift to the National Breast Cancer Coalition, XBIZ managing editor Dan Miller’s donation to the American Red Cross, AVN senior editor Mark Kernes’ donation to the Guttmacher Institute and RayVeness’ selection of Treasures. Any Girlfriends Films performers interested in participating may apply by emailing the following information to PR@GirlfriendsFilms.com: name, AIP charity of choice, reason(s) for selecting the charity. Chosen performers will be asked to submit a personal photo depicting the performer engaged with the charity, the charity’s mission or a similar charitable act. The photo will be used for promotional purposes. Follow Girlfriends Films on Twitter and friend on Facebook.
