LOS ANGELES—Look for some Los Angeles firefighters to be fired in the near future, courtesy of an NBC4 investigation that alleges that some city fire engines were used in the making of porn scenes for "one of the world’s biggest porn websites." AVN readers will remember that the moral watchdogs at NBC were also behind the outing of two Los Angeles Department of Transportation officers unwittingly caught up in another shoot earlier this year, one of whom was subsequently fired. In the current situation, the department is investigating the incidents, which were reportedly relayed to NBC4 by LAFD insiders. And we thought firefighters stuck by one another. “In one of the movies, shot at Venice Beach, LAFD Engine 263 is used as the backdrop by an actress performing lewd acts,” reported NBC4. “’Look at this fire truck,’ says porn actress Charley Chase, as she climbs on the engine and repeatedly exposes herself. ‘Isn’t that nice?’” The article claims that it appears from the video that the firefighters are watching the scene being shot, that the performer appears to have had full access to the fire engine for several minutes, and also that the engine is parked in a disabled space—all of which is in violation of department policy, which states that LAFD employees must “operate apparatus in a way that does not compromise the reputation of the department.” NBC4 says the department is taking the allegations seriously, and is investigating firefighters in Venice and a station in Hollywood. A source told the TV station that “the battalion chiefs knew. Everyone at the station level knew.” Mayor Villaragosa has also weighed in, saying that the behavior is "unacceptable." The article is full of comments made by unnamed insiders, but it is unclear if there are several insiders, or one. Be that as it may, one source said that the use of the engines and the participation by the firefighters was set up with the producers ahead of time because it was thought to be in “good clean fun.” NBC4, it seems, will see to it that they are disabused of that notion.
