Adam & Eve Survey Shows Most Still Prefer Missionary Position

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C.—The latest sex survey results from Adam & Eve and AdamAndEve.com reveal that when it comes to sex, most adults still prefer the missionary position. While not exactly a surprise, the missionary position garnered 32 percent of the vote, followed by rear-entry (23 percent) and cowgirl (22 percent). The “69” position was favored by 7 percent of respondents, followed by spooning (6 percent) and reverse cowgirl (4 percent). Three percent of those surveyed chose “other,” and 3 percent preferred not to say. Interestingly, when Adam & Eve Facebook followers were asked to rate their favorite positions, there was a marked difference in their preference. The overwhelming majority of these Adam & Eve customers prefer rear-entry position (53 percent), followed by cowgirl (29 percent), reverse cowgirl (6 percent), other (6 percent), and missionary (6 percent). Dr. Kat Van Kirk, Adam & Eve’s resident sex expert, says, “It’s interesting that while Adam & Eve customers may be a bit more adventurous when it comes to sexual matters, the average American still seems to prefer face-to-face intimacy.” Dr. Kat also believes the results suggest variation in the control of play. “Both of the top choices (missionary and rear entry) allow for more male control while the second choice (cowgirl), puts the woman in control. I believe there’s some give and take there.” Adam & Eve director of marketing Chad Davis notes, “Adam & Eve’s wide array of products encourage couples to make any erotic encounter better. From mild to wild, Adam & Eve has something to enhance any relationship.” The web-based survey, conducted by an independent third party survey company, of over 1,000 American adults age 18 and up, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.
