Condom Offers Extra-Large Way to 'Protect Your Weiner'

NEW YORK—Practice Safe Policy, the creative minds who generated publicity and brisk sales with a series of condoms bearing the likeness of Barack Obama, John McCain and Sarah Palin, are making more political hay with a new condom line. Just days after the news broke that U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner had texted photos of a most private nature to some of his Twitter followers, the team has debuted its latest: the extra-large Weiner Condoms. The congressman’s slip launched a thousand quips, but this may be the most lasting joke to come out of the Battle of the Bulge. As the company press release notes, “These special-edition Weiner condoms are a great way to start off an inappropriate conversation.” “We’re glad that Anthony Weiner came out and admitted that the bulge was his. It’s time our politicians were honest with their constituents,” said company founder Benjamin Sherman. “These limited-edition Weiner Condoms are sure to last longer than his marriage.” The addition of the new “Protect Your Weiner” condoms joins the company’s full line of bipartisan prophylactics. Like its predecessors, Sherman notes, “Weiner Condoms are full of political puns.” These include the Palin Condoms (“As Thin as Her Resume”) and Obama Condoms (“Hope Is Not a Form of Protection” and “The Ultimate Stimulus Package”). Since its founding in 2008, Practice Safe Policy has sold an estimated 500,000 condoms, shipped to more than 60 countries. A significant number of those were sold on the streets of New York; click here for more on Practice Safe Policy’s legal travails over vendor licenses.
