Gracie Glam: Interview with 2011's Best New Starlet

From Chick-Fil-A worker to winning the 2011 AVN Award for Best New Starlet, Gracie Glam has come a long way. A sexy starlet with green eyes, perfect smile and fit body, Glam is proud of her accomplishment and is keen on taking her career to new heights. There is no more coveted honor in the business for a new performer than Best New Starlet. It’s certainly the most buzzed about award, and the competition is always strong—such as this year’s stiff competition from the likes of Chanel Preston, Raven Alexis, Alexis Ford and Amy Brooke. Awarded by the AVN Awards voting panel, the honor recognizes not only the best sexual performers but also those who possess the intangible qualities defined in the entertainment business as star power. Glam’s sunny disposition, refreshing all-natural sexuality and, most importantly, the high quality and consistency of her stellar work over the past year made her a most worthy award winner. “Best New Starlet is the award every girl in the business wants to win, so it was truly an honor to be nominated, much less win. I was speechless,” Glam told AVN after receiving her award. “It’s one of those situations where you want it so bad, yet you don’t think it’s possible. I was beyond words when I heard I won. I said, ‘Is this really happening?’” Glam’s ascent to the cream of the newbie crop began in 2009 when she posed for her first nude layout in SCORE magazine while attending college. Later that year she dipped her toes into the porn world with a couple girl/girl scenes for Reality Kings. Before she knew it, she was booked constantly and has turned in an impressive amount of blistering (and boner-inducing) scenes for all the major porn players. She moved to Los Angeles from Florida in the summer of 2009 to chase her dream of porn stardom. “I was going to school for fashion design, but I knew I had to move to Porn Valley for work,” Glam said. “Things really began to start for me that summer where I knew I could [perform] full-time, make good money and pick school back up later.” Since winning the award, Glam has moved back to Los Angeles after a brief stint in Florida, has joined LA Direct Models, and loves her career more than ever.  “I didn’t ever expect to be in the industry and to love it as much as I do,” says Glam. “As long as I’m happy I’m going to keep doing it. And it’s like one of those things. You hear about people that wake up and they’re miserable with their career, but I wouldn’t live like that. I’m doing porn because I love doing it and everyone likes me doing it. I never like to put any pressure on anything.” Glam said that since her win, she believes people view her differently. “I think winning such a prestigious award makes you more visible, more known. I’m still Gracie Glam, but now I’m Gracie Glam, Best New Starlet. It has a great ring to it, don’t you think? I’m humbled, I’m honored and it’s just incredibly nice to be recognized for all the work I put in last year. This award motivates me to go even further and challenge myself even more.
