Evasive Angles Sees Success with Parodies

LOS ANGELES—Evasive Angles is positioning itself to be the leader among ethnic parody producers with four such titles now on the market. The latest spoof is Can’t Be Chappelle’s Show, which streeted Jan. 17. “We really want to be known as the official black parody company,” Evasive Angles Director of Sales Ed Smith told AVN. “Being a big butt, ethnic company, it was a natural extension for us to expand into the parody genre and select TV shows and movies that are a big part of the black community.” Can’t Be Chappelle’s Show was preceeded by Can’t Be Different Strokes, This Ain’t the Barbershop: It’s a XXX Parody and This Ain’t Good Times. All the movies were directed by company owner TT Boy. “Not everyone sees eye-to-eye on black product,” Smith said. “I think it deserves more respect and so does TT Boy. We want to shout out and let the porn aficionados know our next parody release will be Can’t Be Sanford and Son.” Smith said that the company’s parodies have gotten a strong response from retailers and that orders out the door triple when Evasive Angles releases a parody title. “We want to be true to our audience,” he said. “We don’t just want to throw anything on film. We research our parodies to make sure they fly with our demographic.” View the safe-for-work trailers for all Evasive Angles’ parodies on the company’s YouTube page located at YouTube.com/user/EvasiveAnglesInc. Evasive Angles releases a parody approximately every other month. For more information, email Smith at ed@evasiveangles.com.
