The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) has released a public service announcement (PSA) explaining how to report online child pornography (CP). The video is currently available for viewing on the ASACP YouTube Channel.
The sexual exploitation of children is a heinous crime and reporting CP could help save a child from being further victimized. However when reporting CP it could be just as important to know what not to do as it is to know what to do in order to not become criminally liable for the possession or distribution of child pornography. ASACP’s “How to Report Child Pornography” PSA explains exactly what to do, and what not to do, if you come across suspect child pornography online.
“ASACP’s CP hotline receives an average of 7,000 reports each month; however, coming across CP on the internet is a situation few are prepared for. What makes it so difficult is the shock of seeing the image of a very young child, even babies, being horribly sexually abused. It’s so upsetting that many people have a hard time properly reporting what they’ve seen,” stated Joan Irvine CEO of ASACP. “That is why ASACP created this new PSA on how to report CP.”
Founded in 1996, the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating child pornography from the Internet.
