The holidays arrive early as distributor prepares comedy pic for Festivals.
TLA Releasing has acquired worldwide entertainment rights for MAKE THE YULETIDE GAY (USA, 2009), an effervescent, holiday comedy from director Rob Williams (3-Day Weekend, Back Soon). The film will make its world premiere at the 19th Inside Out Toronto LGBT Film and Video Festival on May 17th. TLA acquired the film from Guest House Films LLC; Guest House Films LLC was represented by Rob Williams; TLA Releasing was represented by Derek Curl, Head of Development and Production. The deal was finalized during the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival. MAKE THE YULETIDE GAY is the perfect addition to the TLA Releasing slate and one of the strongest offerings from Guest House Films, said Derek Curl. The film is outstanding holiday entertainment with an appealingly fresh, talented cast and the chemistry between the two leads is charmingly authentic. MAKE THE YULETIDE GAY tells the story of Olaf Gunn Gunnunderson, an out-and-proud gay college student who is done with finals and ready for Christmas break. Saying goodbye to his boyfriend Nathan, he arrives at his parents home, who actually have no clue about his sexuality. Gunns parents have fixed him up with his high school sweetheart Abby and when Gunns boyfriend Nathan arrives unannounced, hes shocked to discover that Gunn is not out to his parents. There are lots of close calls as the two boys try to keep Gunns secret, but as the family gets closer to Nathan and more inquisitive about his personal life, Gunn must decide if hes ready to come out before the truth does. The film stars newcomer Keith Jordan, openly gay actor Adamo Ruggiero (Degrassi: The Next Generation), Derek Long (3-Day Weekend), Ian Buchanan (The Bold and the Beautiful), Gates McFadden (Star Trek: The Next Generation) and Alison Arngrim (Nellie Oleson on Little House on the Prairie). "After TLA Releasing's success with Back Soon and 3-Day Weekend, we are very excited to continue our relationship with its acquisition of MAKE THE YULETIDE GAY," said Rob Williams, director of MAKE THE YULETIDE GAY. "Our goal was to bring something new to the Christmas movie genre, and I hope we have created a feel-good film that gay youth can watch with their parents during the holidays."
