Cybersocket would like to congratulate all the winners of the 9th Annual Cybersocket Web Awards presented by Epoch. We would also like to express our gratitude to all of the voters and attendees – and especially to the sponsors who made it all possible: Epoch, Gay IM Live, Men 4 Rent Now, Buddy Profits, Naked Sword, Xbiz, Cocky Boys, and Bel Ami.
This year’s gala event was held on Feb 9, 2009 at Eleven nightclub in West Holywood. Red carpet arrivals were broadcast live by Sister Roma of The Tim and Roma Show and porn heartthrob Steve Cruz. For the very first time, the event was open to the general public – giving fans fans a chance to rub elbows with their favorite stars and directors. The result was a record turnout, with over 500 attendees threatening to spill out onto Santa Monica Boulevard.
All of the sites and individuals nominated were worthy, but every contest must have its victors. This year’s winners were chosen by either fans (in the case of the Surfer’s Choice awards) or peers (for the Industry Choice awards.) As the only event of its kind, the awards show annually honors the web’s best GLBT sites, content producers, and business professionals.
After a stunning aerial performance by Vinney of Vertical Posse and a warm welcome from Cybersocket’s Dina Martinez, MC Chi Chi LaRue and trophy studs Johnny Hazzard and Blake Riley began announcing the lucky winners. Awards were presented in 26 Surfer’s Choice categories and 11 Industry Choice categories, with each winner receiving a beautifully engraved crystal trophy.
